Versions, History, Notes

Gray Cart
(submitted by: larsoncc ), 1/12/2003 9:06:32 PM (edit)
There were 2 versions of Zelda: a more commonly known Gold cart, and the lesser known Gray cart. The Gray cart was produced later in the NES system's life, as a "Value" title. The gray version of the cart is more rare than the gold version, however both versions are equally valuable on the open market.

How to get the white cloak on the original zelda
7/15/2005 6:49:19 PM

(posted: 9/2/2005 2:53:14 PM) Answer Courtesy of VinnieBagels: To get the white cloak you must have purchase it for 250 rupees...There is only one store that sells it.

To find that store in quest one follow these directions from starting point:
Up one screen, left three screens, up three screens. Once there touch the upper middle frozen soldier to reviel a secret staircase. (This is the same location for dungeon two in the second quest by the way.)

To find this store in the second quest follow the these directions:

Right four screens, up two screens, right two screens, up four screens, right two screens. By now you should be at the old tree. If you stand as close as you can to the right of the tree the hidden path should be right above you. Just walk up into the rock.

If you know the location of the secret path above the old tree in quest one go there...It's not the location of the store to purchase the white cloak.

Could you give me the walk through of the original Legend of Zelda, first quest, level 9.
2/19/2006 2:10:21 PM

(posted: 3/10/2006 10:58:50 AM) Answer Submitted Anonymously: start by going north.
Nothing here, so go west, kill the Lanmolas for some extra bombs, and go
another two rooms west, avoiding those Like-Likes at all costs. Unlock the
door and go west, then north, then bomb through the eastern wall. Here, push
the block in the center east and go north, then east. Bomb through the
northern wall, unlock the door and go east, then north, walk through the
western wall, go another room west, go north, walk through the western wall,
kill the Lanmolas, push the western block, then get the red ring from the
secret passage—x4 defense.

Then, go back one room east, kill the Patra, push the western block, and go
through the secret passage to a room with Wizzrobes. Bomb through the eastern
wall, then walk through the northern wall in this next room. Then, push the
block and take the secret passage to another room full of Wizzrobes. Go west,
go through the maze and bomb through the northern wall, then walk through the
western wall in the next room. Kill the Wizzrobes, push the block, and then
get the silver arrows from the secret passage.

Here, walk through the northern wall, push the western block, then take the
secret passage. Before the Bubbles and Wizzrobes can get to you, bomb through
the northern wall. Recognize this room? Okay, you wouldn’t, maybe, I’m the
one working my butt off all day. Allow me to quote myself.

Quote: …kill the Lanmolas for some extra bombs, and go another two rooms west,
avoiding those Like-Likes at all costs. Unlock the door and go west, then
north, then bomb through the eastern wall. Here, push the block in the center
east and go north, then east. Bomb through the northern wall, unlock the door
and go east, then north, walk through the western wall, go another room west,
go north,…

…and then kill the Patra if there’s one there, push the western block, and take
the secret passage. Go east through the hole you bombed earlier. But this
time, defeat the Patra, and get ready to face Ganon. Go through the eastern
door that opens for the final confrontation.

Remember the last fight with Ganon? It’s the same this time around. Now, show
that oversized pig who’s boss! And then, the beautiful princess Zelda is all

on the 1st zelda how do you kill the saw or thats what it looks like in leave 5?
3/25/2006 10:43:03 PM

(posted: 4/15/2006 1:43:48 PM) Answer Courtesy of m3at3ri3x3: Make sure you have the whistle, which is found in this level.  When you get to the "boss" of that level, select the whistle, blow it once, and it will shrink down to a faster moving but smaller "buzz saw" from which you can kill with your sword.  Make sure you have the "big" shield that costs 130 rupees.  These will block the fireballs that will be shot at you from the four corners of the room.

When I'm in the dark world, in the beginning on the top of the pyramid, I go to the palace of darkness for my first mission. A monkey i supposed to be following me when I get out of the bushes and heading to the palace but he doesn't follow me, I don't know where he is?

where do i find level 8 ive looked for like 3 hours for im desperate.
6/8/2006 3:31:22 PM

(posted: 6/19/2006 10:58:21 PM) Answer Submitted Anonymously: Level 8 is in a very unusual spot and if you had no walkthru then it would be virtually impossible to find. Level 8 is on screen J-2. To get there from the beginning on screen H-8, go: Up, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up, Left, Up, Right, Right. Level 8 is in a cave behind a bombable wall. You see the wall of mountain above you? If you look carefully, you can notice that it is divided by little squares as that is how they programmed it back in the days of the early video game. Well if you notice these squares then try bombing the fourth or fifth square from the left to find Level 8. If you have no clue as to what I am talking about, try to use good judgment and bomb more towards the left part of the screen. Yes, I know it is awkward standing over water to do this, but you have to do it. Anyways, once you find the correct plot of wall, then bomb the wall then go in the hole into Level 8!
