SEGA® of America, Inc. announced today that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games™ is officially in stores across North America and has released a new CG video of the games opening ceremonies. Featuring one of the video game industry’s most epic rivalries, this exciting title takes place at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and offers the ultimate sports party game experience, packed with high-energy snow and ice competitions where fans can strive for gold exclusively on Wii™ and Nintendo DS™ . Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is the second in the series, the first of which sold over 10 million copies worldwide.



Starring Mario™, the world’s most famous plumber, and Sonic, the blue Hedgehog who moves at Sonic speed, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games offers players a chance to compete as one of 20 favorite characters from both the Mario and Sonic universes including Mario, Sonic, Luigi™, Tails, Peach™, Amy, Bowser™, and Eggman. New to the series are top fan requests from the last game: Donkey Kong™, Metal Sonic, Bowser Jr™., and Silver. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games features a total of 27 intense events – a mix of official Olympic events including speed skating, alpine skiing, snowboard cross, curling and ice hockey, each one tasking gamers to put themselves in the game and one-up their favorite video game heroes. The game also features Dream events which take players into fantasy events inspired by the Mario and Sonic universes filled with familiar obstacles and power-ups. Players can compete in both single and multiplayer modes across all events. Finally – gamers can get into the action on DS using the unique touch screen capabilities to navigate tracks, get some height on jumps or do some fancy moves on skates. On Wii, use the Nunchuk™ and Wii Remote™ or the Wii Balance Board™ accessory to channel favorite athletes and take part in a full- body gaming experience.

Exclusive to the Nintendo DS version of the game is the new Adventure Tours which takes players on a fantastic journey through  the Olympic Winter Games while escaping the clutches of Bowser and Eggman. Gamers can also take advantage of the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection to compete on leaderboards with scores from all over the world, or enjoy both single and multicard gameplay when in the same room. The Wii version of the game offers an exclusive Festival Mode which allows gamers to take their character or Mii™ through the full Olympic experience to become an overall champion. Fans can also show off their top scores using the global leaderboards thanks to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
